SECURITY TRAINING
<aside>
🌷 There are many free online training resources geared towards gaining security certificates, like Professor Messer’s content. I did not list these because getting certificates costs money. However, studying to get one is very useful because they provide an established linear curriculum to follow with an outlined overview of topics. I may consider adding a section for that in the future, but the goal for this resource is 100% free material.

Basics + Multiple Topics
- Ropper’s Academy is now my #1 recommendation for anyone getting into security. It covers all the computing and networking fundamentals you need and is mostly practical, not theoretical. Additionally, the attitude towards learners at Ropper’s is the best I’ve seen, the only one with a philosophy I completely agree with: teaching you how to learn.
- LevelEffect’s Cybersecurity Foundations free course covers security fundamentals, GRC fundamentals, Windows and Linux OS fundamentals, and core networking concepts (includes Wireshark and packet analysis!)

They currently have 2 career learning paths that are paid: Incident Responder and Security Analyst. However, the training is free! It also frequently goes on sale, if you are interested in paying for all features.
- Fortinet’s NSE Training Institute offers free courses in security awareness and training in the use of Fortinet products. The training is also available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese!
